Epsilon A.R. - Review

Epsilon A. R.
By:: Zachery Alexander Humphreys

Publisher:: Black Rose Writing
Pages:: 308
Price:: $7.99
ISBN::978-1612961644
Type:: Science Fiction

About the Book::
Hundreds of years into the future mankind has gone under-ground to relocate to Epsilon; a beautiful city run by a strong, secretive government that keeps its citizens in check by subtle manipulation and strict schedules. No one questions the city’s authority and no one is unhappy. ALN-896, an average man who is just trying to live a normal life, begins to have dreams; something strange and rare in Epsilon. In his dreams a man named Harry dies. ALN-896 shrugs this off as if nothing has happened. It was only a dream. The next day, however, he is suddenly arrested and sent to prison for killing Harry. Now inside prison, ALN-896 begins to learn about what the government of Epsilon has been doing and he plans on escaping. Not only from prison, but from Epsilon. This one decision turns him against everything he has ever known and forces him to face against centuries of lies. To escape means to live, but what will it cost?

My Thoughts::

This book is a weird twisted thought for a book. What would it be like if you could not thing for yourself? That if you did not follow directions on what to do you are put in jail striped of your name and given something else. Like a 3 letter - 3 number name that you would be called by.

Jail in this time has its own world to deal with hard conditions that you need to fail. When ALN-896 starts dreaming about a co worker dying he is put in jail for killing him.

Is Aln-896 responsible for killing his co-work? Was he put in jail by wrong full justice?

 You need to read this book and find out what happens to him and was it all real.

Can't-Wait Willow! :: # Review & #Giveaway

Can't Wait Willow
#Book # Review
By:: Christy Ziglar

Publisher:: Shine Bright Kids
Pages:: 32
Price:: $14.99
ISBN:: 9780824956486
Type:: Children

About the Book::
Willow is so excited that the Over-the-Top Circus has finally come to town! The only problem is that when left to make her own decisions, she can't say 'no' to her favorite things. On the way to the show, she is distracted by enticing treats and fun that she just can't turn down. Willow arrives late and is sad to find that not only has she has run out of time, but money, and she won't be able to enjoy the pink cotton candy she's been dreaming of. Willow is given valuable advice and a second chance and is ultimately taught the lesson that sometimes in life you have to say 'no' to good things to end up with something great! Ages 4-8.

My Thoughts::
With having a only child and a house full of adults Josiah gets the "I Can't Wait" Complex and it is very hard to break. However I am working very hard to break this habit. That is why this book reminds me so much of Josiah, on how impulsive he is. He is always wanting to do stuff right now and does not like to wait. I really like this story because it shows kids that they need to wait if they want to do something that is really important to them. In the story Willow Keep Seeing so many different things, she wanted to do them all and ended up missing out on the very thing that she wanted. For me with a Child with ADHD, this is like the story of are lives always dealing with a impulsive child and never stopping.

Cross the Ocean : Book Tour : #Book #Review

By:: Holly Bush
#Book #Review

Publisher:: Baby Book

Pages:: 258
Price:: $3.99
ASIN:: B00D381HR6

About the Book::

1871 . . . The very proud Duke of Wexford was about to have his orderly world blown apart. At the age of twenty-four, Blake Sanders had wed a beautiful, dutiful wife and she had borne him three children. But now as mid-life approached, the Duchess had the unheard of temerity to leave him! Too mortified by her behavior to mix in ton company, Blake sought companionship with his best friend and neighbor, Anthony Burroughs, and his wife Elizabeth. But Blake had forgotten the Burrough’s were entertaining a houseguest, Elizabeth’s distant cousin, a spinsterish ‘Amazon from America’.

Gertrude Finch, a champion for women’s rights, had long ago decided most men were useless other than Uncle Fred who’d raised her on his horse ranch near Chicago. While traveling with other Suffragists, Gert lectured women on the perils of passion and the value of independence but thought of neither when Blake kissed her. While opposite in nearly every way, other than an attraction neither could deny, their one night of passion would change her world, and send Gert scurrying her way back home across the ocean.

When Blake discovered his heir had stowed away on Gert’s ship, he set out on his own adventure to America, to bring the boy home and to see Gert once again. Traversing America’s vast wilderness, Blake discovered that Gert had changed his life. Whether riding the rails or meeting common folk, Blake saw a whole new way of living but most of all, he realized something about love. He found he was not immune, and his heart could love, and love deeply.

My Thoughts::

I am not a reader that reads a lot of books about Duke and romance but I do enjoy them. The Cross the Ocean is a quick read about a man name Blake that is a Duke of Wexford that is very arrogant man. Duke is married to a Duchess and they have three children together. For so long the duchess was ignored by her husband Blake. Being tired of her life and being ignored, the duchess leaves her husband, children, and life behind. With Blake not knowing what to do and needing so much  help with his own children. He seeks help from his friend Sir Anthony Burroughs and his wife Elizabeth with his children. With Blake forgetting that his friends are entertaining Gertrude their cousin. Gertrude is from america and Blake is drawn to her very quickly. This is not the case with Gertrude in the beginning. Gertrude is a tell you how it is girl and is not a person to be ignored or to hold back in what she has to say. Learning about Gertrude and Blake is a great story but you will have to find out what happens to the two of them.

I really loved how Gertrude is a woman that speaks her mind and hold pride in herself.

The Wight of a Feather :: #Book #Review

The Weight of a Feather
#BookTour #Review
By:: Judy Croome

Publisher::Aztar
Pages:: 200
Price:: $6.99
ISBN:: B00H217Q5M
Type:: Short Story Anthology

About the Book::
“The promise implicit in an anthology is that it aspires to present something different, unexpected”  Joyce Carol Oates (Introduction to The Oxford Book of American Short Stories)
From the classical form of ‘The Weight of a Feather’, first published by The Huffington Post (2013), to the suggestive allegory of ‘The Leopard and The Lizard’, this collection of short stories by South African author Judy Croome is an ideal mix of the familiar and the startling.
These vibrant slices of life testify to the mysterious and luminous resources of the human spirit. Whether feeling the harrowing emotion in ‘The Last Sacrifice’ or the jauntiness of ‘Jannie Vermaak’s New Bicycle’, the reader will delight in a plethora of stories that cross boundaries to both challenge and entertain with their variety.
My Thoughts::
 If you have ever read a short stories book, you will know that it is a collection of short stories that are normally a really quick read. In the Weight of a Feather and other Stories, it is a quick story book that has forty-five different collective stories that are a very fast read. With the stories being an average of five pages each it is easy to get done reading a few stories, waiting in a doctors office. I normally do not read short stories, since I do like reading novels and seeing the character develop.

Judy has created wonderful stories and I enjoyed all the stories that she has create. The character are developed well and are the stories are easy to read. I hope that her other books are this enjoyable.

Chief Complaint Brain Tumor :: Book Tour :: Review

Chief Complaint Brain Tumor
By:: John Kerastas

Publisher:: Sunstone Press
Pages:: 136
Price:: $16.95
ISBN:: 978-0865349087
Type:: Non- Fiction

About the Book::

At 57 years old, I thought I was the poster child for fifty-year old healthiness: I competed in triathlons, rode in 100 mile biking events and ate a healthy diet chock full of organic vegetables. Then I discovered that I had a brain tumor the size of my wife’s fist.
My memoir chronicles the first year I spent addressing tumor-related health issues: preparing for my first operation, discovering a dangerous skull infection, having the infected portion of my skull surgically removed, learning about my substantial vision and cognitive losses, undergoing rehab and radiation treatments, and learning to live with my “new normal.” And, as best I can tell, the phrase “new normal” is the medical community’s code words for “You’re alive, so quit bitchin’.”
As my health changed, so did my sense of humor. My humor started out superficially light-hearted prior to the first operation; transmogrified into gallows humor after several subsequent operations; and leveled out as somewhat wry-ish after radiation and rehab.
Topics I write about in the book include:
How not to tell everybody you have a brain tumor
Why it’s a lot of work to die in this country
Why I had difficulties in naming my tumor
How I negotiated bathroom visits with “Nurse Don’t-Bother-Me”
Why I could prove that I was the “dumbest guy in the room”
Why someone compared the back of my head to a diseased goat
How I flunked a job interview with myself
This is a book for anybody interested in memoirs about people dealing with personal crises, for patients trudging through rehab, for caretakers helping victims of serious illnesses, or for anybody looking for an unexpected chuckle from an unlikely subject.

jpgAuthor Bio:
I’ve worked at a global advertising agency, at several technology start-up companies and as a free-lance writer. Currently I spend most of my time blogging, speaking and writing about brain health, brain tumors and rehab. I speak to hospital rehab groups, stroke and aphasia groups, and last summer spoke at the American Brain Tumor Association’s annual “Patient and Caregiver” conference.
My charity and non-profit efforts includes work through the Taproot Foundation on behalf of Apna Ghar (a Chicago-based non-profit providing domestic violence services to immigrant communities). I also go on Appalachia Service project trips through my church, participate in Early Response Teams that follow first responders into disaster areas, and teach and certify Early Response Teams through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (e.g.UMCOR).

Review Thoughts from Tara ::
Chief Complaint Brain Tumor is a touching and humorous non-fiction account of the author's diagnosis, surgery, and recovery from a benign brain tumor which left him partially blind.

Kerastas begins with the symptoms which led him to seek out a doctor's care, all the while explaining away his initial lack of action as the consequence of being a male. He keeps this same cheekiness even as he describes his reaction to hearing about the fist-size brain tumor, which he nicknames The Blob, and in his dealings with the hospital staff.

As the author is dealing with his own health issues, the health of his beloved dog is also affected. Kerastas masterfully melds the two stories together, allowing the reader to become involved with his own internal struggles relating to his own diminishing abilities and those of his pet.

Although the end of the book is not the end of the author's struggle with the brain tumor, it does leave one with hope. This book is not just for those looking for answers with their own health struggles but serves as a handbook for anyone needing help looking for the bright side of any struggle in their lives.

My Thoughts::

I have read many vampire stories. When I started Linked, I thought at first it might follow the usual vampire/human story line. I was pleasantly surprised with it. Vampires and the Mob? Great idea! The heroine comes off as a little wishy washy sometimes, and the two heroes keep you going back and forth between who you really want to hate and who you want to like. Overall very well executed! Must read for any vampire lover!

Belong to You - Review

By::

Publisher:: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform

Pages:: 274
Price:: $12.99
ISBN:: 978-1482692167
Type:: Erotic Romance

About the Book::

Fans of Bared to you, Fifty Shades and First Thing I See will love this new book!

My honeymoon was almost everything I dreamed it would be, a tropical paradise, turquoise water, romantic walks on the beach, and loads and loads of mind shattering sex. The only thing missing was the groom.

After seven years of coasting through a relationship with Michael, my senses were numb. A week of passion with a stranger was just what I needed to clear my head and take back control of my life. But how do you move on when the man that was only supposed to be a fling somehow seeps into your soul and steals your heart?

My Thoughts::
This book had me from the beginning..and the middle...and the end.  I just couldn't stop reading it!  It has just the right balance of sincere romance and sizzling spice.  The main characters, Sydney and Jack, have such an instant connection.  Following them through their time in Hawaii was hot, hot, hot, but I like that there is more to it than that.  Obviously, a connection that strong cannot be denied, because things are just getting started...but I don't want to give away too much of the story.  The highs and lows of their journey were so intense that I couldn't help but want to be a part of the ride.

This was such a fun, feel good read.  I thought the story flowed so well, and I loved how even the "minor" characters played a big role.  I cannot wait to wait to see where this story leads.   I will definitely be coming back for more!!

Whether he lives or dies, Will Lesterall will never be the same.
My Thoughts::
 With so many different fantasy story that are written, they are always so long and take a long time to read. I love this book "The Pact" it is about a little boy that is 10 years old and his name is Will. Will living in a time where their are creatures that we could only dream about now. Like goblins, dragon and other creatures that were created that should not be alive. Will and his brother Robin never had to worry about these creatures coming into the castle or have a fear of the creatures. Yet, This will soon change when the 200th anniversary came around the pact was broken. The dragons, goblins and the other worldly creatures start coming into the castle. Will and his bother have to make choices that are life and death decisions. I am hoping that their will be a second book that is going to be created since it was a exciting fun read for me. I am looking forward to seeing what else is created by Graeme.

Audrey Bunny
By::Angie Smith

Publisher::B & H Publishing Group
Pages:: 32
Price:: $14.99
ISBN:: 978-1433680458
Type:: Childrens

About the Book::
From best-selling women’s author Angie Smith (I Will Carry You, Mended) comes this sweet children’s book about a stuffed animal named Audrey Bunny who fears her imperfections make her unworthy of a little girl’s love. She'll learn the truth soon enough, and young readers will learn that everyone is special and wonderfully made by God.

My Thoughts::
In life everyone is different. Different shapes, sizes, color and different challenges and it is no expectation with toys. When reading Audrey Bunny to Josiah the other night we really enjoyed the book. It is about a little bunny in store, that never gets picked. All because of a mark that is on the chest of the bunny. Audrey the Bunny was so worried that once Caroline found out about the mark on her that Caroline would return her to the store and not want her any more. You find out that the main reason Audrey was picked, was because of her mark. It makes her specials and she is one of a kind. I have now read the book a few times and Josiah really enjoys the book and me reading it to him. I am going to be looking at what other books that Angie writes.

Legacy of a Dreamer

Series #1

by Allie Jean

Pages:: 170
Price:: $17.99
ISBN:: 978-1612130408
Type:: YA

About the Book::
Chantal Breelan is a ward of the state, living under the care of a woman who is cold and heartless. Her past is a mystery, and her future is even more uncertain. She can’t recall why she had been taken from her parents and so she’s left with nothing but an empty hole where her childhood should have been. When she awakens from her nightmares, she’s left with terrible, violent images, as well as a boy whose face is oddly familiar, yet can’t be placed.
Scared and alone, Chantal begins to confide in an imaginary friend – a shadow in the shape of a man who stands in the corner of her room. She is comforted when she believes he listens to her.
On her eighteenth birthday, Chantal is forced to leave her foster home. She moves to New York City, but the start of her new life doesn’t begin as smoothly as she’d hoped. In this environment, she faces a whole new set of challenges.
One night at a subway station, Chantal meets a young boy who runs away from her, and she’s compelled to follow him down into the tunnels. But this Rabbit Hole reveals a world where reality is a nightmare. Her dreams are clues to her future, and her life becomes twisted and dangerous when she learns that things that go bump in the night are not just in fairy tales and childhood stories.

Allie Jean was born with an overactive imagination. She spent her childhood inventing stories and telling tales. Her mind never shut down, even while she slept. Vivid dreams containing extensive, elaborate plot lines of good overcoming evil villains captured her nightly visions, lingering into her waking hours and filling the pages of her well-loved bounded diaries. She was encouraged by her parents, even at a young age, to write down her tales, and it has remained a somewhat secret hobby. As a busy wife, mother and critical care nurse, Allie’s love of storytelling has been reborn through the adventures of her unforgettable characters.

My Thoughts::

How would it is be if you were in the foster care system all your life being tossed around from home to home. Since she was a child Chantal has had nightmares since she was a child and the only way she has found to cope is to have a imaginary friend. She finds comfort in talking to him, a man that stands in the shadows that she can talk to. Right before Chantal turns 18 years old she desides to move to New York City. When she moves there she learns about the shadows as we know them, but she also learns so much more about herself on who she is.

After missing a train in New York Chantal's was in the mitts of danger and her guardian from the shadow she's known since childhood literally saves her. Being her protector.

Through out the book Chantal has been a strong woman that has been through so much after being in the foster system. Having such a rough life, she has learned not to depend on anyone for help. Until Mathias, he is Chantal's warrior. From the beginning his feelings for Chantal are real and pure, but he doesn't know how to handle them and how to react to them. Chantal and Mathias relationship throughout the whole book is very sweet and charming.

Vegasand the Mob :: Book Tour :: Review

Vegas and The Mob
Charisma Media Book Tours
By:: Al W Moe

Publisherr:: CreateSpace Independent Publishing

Pages:: 182
Price:: $4.95
ASIN:: B00C7YDLIU
Type:: NON-Fiction
Buy Links: Amazon Paperback | Amazon Kindle

About the Book::

The truth about Las Vegas, unlike the watered-down versions you might have heard elsewhere. Sin City was the Mob’s greatest venture and most spectacular success, and through forty years of frenzy, the FBI watched, listened on phone tapes, and did virtually nothing. Thank goodness for that, because Vegas wouldn’t be what it is today without the Mob!
Two of the nation’s most powerful crime family heads went to prison in the 1930’s, Al Capone, and Lucky Luciano. Frank Nitti took over the Chicago Outfit while, Frank Costello ran things for the Luciano Family. Both men were influenced by their bosses from prison, and both sent enough gangsters onto the streets to influence loan sharking, extortion, union control, and drug sales.
Bugsy Siegel worked for both groups, handling a string of murders and opening up gaming on the west coast, and that included Las Vegas, an oasis of sin in the middle of the desert – and it was legal. Most of it. The FBI watched as the Mob took control of casino after casino, killed off the competition, and stole enough money to bribe their way to respectability back home.
New York’s “Lucky Luciano” was getting a taste of the profits in the 1930’s, Detroit, Kansas City, and Chicago weren’t far behind. By the 1940’s, nearly every crime family in the United States had a stake in a Las Vegas casino. Some did better than others. Vegas casino owners watched-over their profits while competing crime families eyed each other’s success like jealous lovers. Murder often followed.

Thoughts on the Book:

Vegas and The Mob by Al W. Moe is fun book to read about the mob life and Vegas.While I am not a reader of crime books and mobsters. It book focuses on the deals, murders, and relationships which brought over-the-top casinos to what they are now. It is very informative with a lot of information in it telling you how organized crime had more control they you would think they did. Not some thing that I would normally read for fun but it was still a good read for me.

Author Bio:
Al W Moe was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and introduced to the casinos of Nevada at the age of eleven. At the time he had never seen such an amazing array of sights, sounds, and exciting games. Little has changed since that first introduction.
Moe is the author of six books and has written for Gambling Times/Poker Player, Pokernews.com and Casino and Gaming Chips Magazine. His love for casinos and the history of gambling are only exceeded by the thrill he gets learning new casino games and his desire to teach new players how to get the most for their money at the casino.
Education:
Moe attended the University of Nevada at Reno and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He especially enjoys the disciplines of probability and statistics.
From Al W Moe:
Casinos and the games they offer have occupied my thinking most of my life. The early casino owners, especially when it involved the Mob in Las Vegas are a fascinating subject. It is amazing the Mob was able to skim the profits of clubs in Nevada for over 40 years. The story of how they did it is even more amazing!

About the Book::

Theft Is Legal exposes the truth. Central banks and governments have been redistributing and concentrating wealth for thousands of years. The only things that can stop them are awareness and action. In this book you will find yourself browsing the author's real memories. You will see through the eyes of a boy in a socialist state struck by the phenomenon of hyperinflation during the years of 1996-1997. Furthermore you will read about the relationship among government, central banking, and economics. If that is not enough, you will gain from exploring concepts related to personal finance and marketing. Lastly, you will be entertained by a fictional story drawing parallels to a situation familiar to many of us today. It will shine light on the reasons why we struggle more than we should in everyday life. The book features several different writing styles so there is guarantee that one connects with you. Unlike most books of its kind, Theft Is Legal gets to the point quickly and does not repeat key concepts in perpetuity. Every page will award you with something new to ponder about. The writing is clear and easy to understand and each chapter is aided by an illustration to help visualize the author's ideas.

My Thoughts::

When you first think about theft is legal most people would say that this is total not true and that theft is not legal.

In the is a very interesting book that I normally would not have read on my own if I was not in the Charisma Media book tour. Svetoslav S Elenkov talks about many different topics in the book and I really liked when Svetoslav talks about the hyperinflation in the economy of today. He writes in a way that you can understand what the author is saying. This would really be a great ready for high school students in economic class since it is dealing with today's economic stance in the world.
